re: audiogame-manager

@bgtlover It’s a bug in the way clipboard reader works. The message gets sent from the game in 2 pieces, so it might say “Enter user name” and then “blank” to let you know the field is blank. We switched to using stdout piped through speech-dispatcher and it’s all good.

audiogame-manager

stormdragon2976 pushed changes to the testing branch of the audiogame-manager project Some very experimental changes. Thanks to @bgtlover we now have tolk support. This means that Survive the Wild works for the most part. Also, the game Christmas Chaos works too.

There is a bit of a bug in the clipboard reader, but it only seems to show up during the forms in STW. I’ll see what I can do about getting it fixed, but in the mean time, you may have a bit of trouble creating a new account.

Please note that as the Tolk support improves, the way audiogame-manager interacts with it may also change. instructions will be provided if manual intervention is required.

@bgtlover @MWTab Ok, I got it working with the clipboard. It’s using the clipboard reader, but I haven’t yet pushed anything to audiogame-manager. There are a couple things it’s not reading in the create account dialog. I’m going to test it with a different game and see what happens.

@bgtlover @MWTab I got it to compile. How did you run STW so you could see its output in the console? I have an idea for the arrow keys if I can’t get them to work, but I’ll have to look up the command.

@nolan Awesome! Congratulations 🎉 Nothing makes it official like signing the paper work lol.

@bgtlover @MWTab Oh, so awesome! Thank you. Today is my last really busy day before the weekend hits, but if I get the chance, I’ll start testing on this today. 🥳

I’m not sure how many of those who follow my posts this new security threat affects, but it’s worth reading and passing along. Keeping your computer secure is important for single users just as much as for large companies. Hopefully this helps someone.

@destructatron You ran it with the -s flag, and it still used i3msg instead of swaymsg? Were there any swaymsg statements in there at all? If not, the problem is too big for my currently very tired brain. for terminal, should it be sway-sensible-terminal?

@destructatron I think I can do that. I added the say option because a couple people asked for it, but I never got any feedback. So, I din’t realize it was broken lol. Thanks for finding and reporting this.

@destructatron Did you try the window list binding? It’s bound to ratpoison key + ‘ in I38.

The solo key v2 my family got me for last year’s birthday finally arrived. It’s great they finally are getting the supply chain stuff figured out. It’s like 2 gifts in 1, I got a authentication key, and it’s purchase helped out an open source company. Win win.

re: audiogame-manager

@MWTab clashes of the sky confirmed working. Thanks for adding these.

Linux! What do you have to say for yourself?

For entertainment purposes only, still, a good fun read.

@FreakyFwoof I don’t mind paying once for a product. I really make an effort to pay for the app if it is open source, e.g. I’ll seek out donation pages etc, or by the cost version from the Playstore. I don’t like monthly subscriptions, because some months I might need that money for something else. On the other hand, paying once for a product that receives updates and a lot of work doesn’t cover the on going development. Maybe if it were version controled, and each version was supported for a specified amount of time, like 1 year, and the payment covered those updates, then that would be more reasonable. In this situation, I would get some updates to my existing purchase, and if I couldn’t afford the upgrade, I could use my current version until I could get the next one.

@ChocolatePie Happy birthday! 🎉 🎂

@bgtlover Awesome, thank you.

@bgtlover Not that I can think of. Pretty much everyone is releasing 64 bit games these days, and the people who aren’t mostly use BGT, and have sapi support without tolk. I guess it wouldn’t be bad to have 32 bit tolk support, but it’s not essential.

@bgtlover I do not, but maybe @MWTab does.

@bgtlover well, nvda2speechd already works, but there is nothing yet for tolk. So, putting tolk first would open up more games. On the other hand, this is personal work you are doing because you want to, so which ever you want to do first automatically gets higher priority. If you are open to requests, however, I would have to vote tolk, for the reason above.

@bgtlover let me know when this stuff is ready for testing. I’ll throw it into AGM, and you’ll have all the feedback you will need. For now, sapi works great with Crazy Party, so the AGM setup doesn’t use nvda for that. It’s rumered that CP is being rewritten in the same engine as STW though, and that will mean tolk. So we have 2 options, stick with the latest working version, or make tolk work. I would love to be able to offerr the latest release, so a working tolk would be the best solution, but I’m not going to break a game that practically everyone who uses AGM has installed, or so I believe, with a new version that doesn’t work. If wrost comes to worst, I could just make a public server for all the AGM people to use. It sounds like you might make the whole problem go away though, and for that, thank you. You rock! 😈
