The Wolfe Pack

The Wolfe Pack

I'm still hacking on System Fault. Remember that thing? I actually do have a formal plan to polish that off and make it as pretty as I can for what it is--a game I designed while hacking together all sorts of hard-to-reason-about abstractions as a blind developer--but living situation issues have eaten up so much of my mental headspace of late.

I just had a very surreal experience though. Disabled wall collisions because enough folks were annoyed by them to see how they changed the game when gone and discovered that, well, the walls never actually physically stopped anything from passing through.

I learned this when I ran out of the world space and into, well, nothing. And because I wasn't actually in a map location, all the environmental effects which are normally associated with areas on maps went away and the audio went flat.

I then turned around, ran back into the world, and the binaural environment and effects popped back into place around me.

I put a lot of work into tuning the environmental audio recently and it kind of blew me away to hear that sudden transition.

Now I need to figure out why my damn walls don't actually, well, wall.

@nolan that game kicks ass. I'm very glad to hear you're still hacking away on it.
